Janine DiVita

On Broadway, Janine starred as Betty Rizzo, opposite American Idol heart throb, Ace Young, in the 2007 revival of GREASE (directed by Kathleen Marshall), She most recently completed a nearly year-long run starring as Elizabeth Benning in the First National Tour of Mel Brooks' YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (directed by Susan Stroman). Off-Broadway: Susan in THE DAY BEFORE SPRING (York Theatre, directed by David Glenn Armstrong). Off-Off Broadway: Gina in RAINBOW AROUND THE SUN (45th Street Theatre, NYMF, directed by Nick Demos). NYC theatre/readings/workshops include: Bess Houdini in HOUDINI (directed by Gabriel Barre), Fiona in FOREVERMAN, Clarke in NOT EXACTLY ROMEO. Regional credits include: Terri in Duke Ellington's SOPHISTICATED LADIES starring Maurice Hines (Arena Stage, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright), Young Little Edie in GREY GARDENS (Portland Center Stage, directed by Chris Coleman), Young French Woman/ Lucie Manette u/s in A TALE OF TWO CITIES (Pre-Broadway/World Premiere, Asolo Repertory, directed by Michael Donald Edwards and Warren Carlyle), Dot in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (Heritage Repertory Theatre, directed by Bob Chapel), and Nancy in OLIVER! (Walnut Street Theatre, directed by Mark Clements) for which she was nominated for a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical.  Janine is currently in The Mystery of Edwin Drood at NYC's Roundabout Theater. 

 

Other roles include: Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Alaura in CITY OF ANGELS (directed by Mark Madama), Cathy in COMPANY, Sister Mary Amnesia in NUNSENSE, and Fania Fenelon in Arthur Miller's PLAYING FOR TIME (directed by Bob Chapel). Janine has performed in concert at many venues including Arizona Opera Company, Opera New Jersey, The Canal Room in NYC, Lincoln Center, Broadway in Bryant Park, The Duplex in NYC and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Janine is the winner of the inaugural Alan Eisenberg/Actors' Equity Association award and the Earl V. Moore Award at the University of Michigan. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan and is a proud member of Actors' Equity. She has taught at various institutions and intensives around the country including St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, "Broadway Comes to Denver," University of Michigan's "M-Pulse," and "Making it on Broadway."
